MOBILE FORENSICS UNIT
Our Pine Ridge reservation service area is widespread with many miles between the little towns that we serve. This has presented a challenge in the past because transportation had to to be found to get the child to our office location for their interviews. Our new 32 foot Mobile Forensic Unit enables our OLCJC staff to travel to a child’s location. With this RV the CPS staff will not have to drive pick the child up, and turn around and take them home, which can be a few extra hours of driving and extra miles on their vehicles. The OLCJC staff can now go directly to the children in different districts that need help. This unit can help reduce wear and tear on vehicles.
Forensic interview equipment has been installed and we are seeking funding to install comfortable furniture and decorations so the children will have a comfortable setting during their visits and interviews.

Larry Swalley, OLCJC's Investigator/Case Manager is the main operator of the unit, and will conduct the Forensic Interviews. Executive Director Arlana Bettelyoun will be there to observe the interview, as well as a Law Enforcement officer, and Child Protection Worker if available during the time of interview.
